Privacy Policy — StillWater

01 What StillWater Stores

StillWater stores the following data locally on your device, using SwiftData in your app's private on-device storage:

Journal entries you write
Emotion logs and mood check-ins
App preferences and settings (e.g. theme, lock preferences)

stored on-device never transmitted no cloud by default

Age restriction: StillWater is not directed at children under the age of 13 and does not knowingly collect data from children.

02 What We Don't Collect

We collect nothing. There is no backend, no database, and no server that receives your data. Specifically, StillWater has:

No user accounts or sign-in
No analytics or usage tracking
No advertising networks
No third-party SDKs of any kind
No data brokers, no data selling, ever

Apple crash diagnostics: When StillWater is distributed via TestFlight or the App Store, Apple may provide anonymized crash logs through App Store Connect. These logs contain device type, OS version, and a stack trace — they are not linked to any personal identity and are governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

03 Face ID & Biometric Lock

StillWater offers an optional Face ID / Touch ID lock to keep your entries private on a shared device. Biometric authentication is handled entirely by iOS — StillWater never accesses, processes, or stores your biometric data. It is never transmitted anywhere.

How it works: When you enable the app lock, iOS checks your biometric against its own secure enclave and returns only a pass/fail result to StillWater. Your Face ID or fingerprint data never enters the app.

04 iCloud Sync (coming soon)

A future update will offer optional iCloud sync so your entries are available across your Apple devices. This feature is opt-in and works as follows:

Data syncs through your own Apple iCloud account
YAMI Digital Lab has no access to your iCloud data at any point
Apple's Privacy Policy governs how iCloud stores and protects your data
You can disable iCloud sync at any time from iOS Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → StillWater

05 Third-Party Services

StillWater contains no third-party SDKs, no advertising networks, and no analytics services. The only external dependency is Apple's own iOS frameworks, which are governed by Apple's privacy policy.

We do not sell, rent, share, or monetize your data in any form — now or in the future.

California residents (CCPA): We do not sell, and have never sold, personal information as defined under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). There is no personal information to sell — none is collected.

Note: Apple provides aggregate, non-personal install and download metrics in App Store Connect (e.g. total downloads by region). This data is anonymized, not linked to individuals, and is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

06 Deleting Your Data

Since all data is stored locally, you have full control:

Delete individual entries — from within the app at any time
Delete everything — uninstall StillWater from your device
Delete iCloud data (once sync is available) — iOS Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → Manage Storage → StillWater

07 Changes to This Policy

If we update this policy, we'll post the new version here with an updated date. For significant changes we'll include a notice in the app. Continuing to use StillWater after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

08 Governing Law

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, United States, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from this policy shall be resolved in the courts of Georgia.
